This Stromboli recipe is a great alternative to the traditional pizza and still manages to keep it’s flexibility to allow for multiple toppings. This is a great sharing dish when entertaining friends.


Tomato Sauce

  • 1 Tin tomatoes
  • 2 Tbsp Tomato puree
  • 1 Tbsp Oregano
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Tsp Sugar
  • Pinch of Salt and Pepper

Topping ideas

  • Garlic butter melted
  • Chorizo slices
  • Cooked pancetta
  • Sliced spring onion
  • Mozzarella
  • Cheddar
  • Chilli chopped
  • Cooked Ham
  • Cooked Sausage
  • Parma ham


  1. Place all the ingredients in small frying pan on medium high heat until thickened (About 10 mins)
  2. Roll dough into large rectangle 30cm x 15cm, brush with garlic butter and half the tomato sauce.
  3. Add toppings of choice and roll from one long side into a sausage shape.
  4. Cut across into 2 inch slices and place cut side down onto an oiled baking tray
  5. Steam Oven – Bake at 180c with 30% steam for 20/25 mins until golden
  6. Conventional Oven – Place a try of water on lowest shelf 10 mins before cooking and leave in for duration. 180c for 20/25 mins until golden
