Chocolate Orange Flap Jack

A delightfully chewy flap jack with a strong orange tang topped with chocolate. Easy to make, a delicious addition to afternoon tea.


  • 6oz Butter
  • 6oz Demerara Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Golden Syrup
  • 12oz Oats
  • 1 Large Orange
  • Bar of Dark Chocolate


  1. Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a saucepan.
  2. Zest the orange into the oats.
  3. Add the oats to the saucepan gradually.
  4. Once they are mixed together place in an Aga half sized baking tray.
  5. Place on the first set of runners in the baking oven for 20 – 25 minutes.
  6. Cut the pieces whilst still warm but leave in the tray.
  7. Place the chocolate in a dish on the back of the Aga to melt and drizzle over the Flap Jack.
