Who doesn’t like the combination of Chocolate and Orange? This Scrumptious moist, moreish cake with chocolate orange flavouring is a treat any day of the week and even better when it’s baked in the Aga.


  • 8oz Self Raising Flour
  • 8oz Caster Sugar
  • 8oz Margerine
  • 4 Eggs
  • Baking Powder
  • 1 Bag of mini chocolate segments
  • 1 Orange
  • Cocoa Powder


  1. Place about 10 segments of chocolates on the back of the Aga to melt
  2. Cream the flour, sugar, eggs, margarine and 1 tea spoon of baking powder together
  3. Mix 1 dessert spoon of cocoa powder with 1 and a half dessert spoons of hot water
  4. Add to the mixture. Zest the orange into the mix and add the melted chocolate
  5. Mix well and divide into 2 x 8 inch cake tins
  6. Bake on the third set of runners in the baking oven for approx. 25 minutes
  7. Cream the butter and icing sugar together , add the cocoa powder and melted chocolate
  8. Spread through the middle of the cake and on top
  9. Zest some chocolate orange segments over the top and use any remaining to decorate or just eat!!!
