Rich Chocolate Cake

This chocolate cake is a decadent twist on a Victoria Sponge mix. A must for any Chocoholic.


Ingredients

  • 8oz caster sugar
  • 8oz self-raising flour
  • 8oz margarine
  • 4 medium eggs
  • Cocoa powder
  • Bar of dark chocolate

For the Butter Icing

  • 8oz icing sugar
  • 4oz margarine
  • Cocoa powder

Preparation

  1. Sieve the flour into a mixing bowl then add the sugar , margarine and eggs.
  2. Cream together well and mix thoroughly. In a cup put a tablespoon of cocoa powder.
  3. And mix with 2 tablespoons of hot water. Add this to the cake mix and blend thoroughly.
  4. Grate approximately 3 squares of chocolate into the mixture and give a final mix.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the 2 cake tins.
  6. Place your grid shelf on the bottom runners of the baking oven and place the cakes in.
  7. When the cake has cooled sieve the icing sugar with a tablespoon of cocoa powder.
  8. Into a bowl and mix with the margarine and two dessert spoons of milk.
  9. Spread generously in the middle of the sponge and on top. Grate some more.
  10. Of the chocolate over the top to finish
