Silicon carbide, one of nature’s strongest materials was discovered over a century ago in a 50,000 year old meteorite in the Diablo Canyon, Arizona.

Nobel Prize Winner, Dr Ferdinand Henry Moisson discovered that Silicon Carbide could be synthesised by crystalising carbon under pressure from molten rock - a material that is second only in strength to diamonds.

Commonly used in furnaces and the aerospace industry, it has never before been used in a domestic oven, until now.

Two of the Thermastone’s oven cavities are cast in Silicon Carbide encompassing strength and an unmatched natural durability.
